Looking back at the following summation of the past, topped with the immensely powerful forces accelerating current events toward an overall, cumulative, dangerous and unhealthy direction, one may well ask, is enough being done, are we fully aware and informed of what’s at stake ………..??
The overriding tide, the accumulative outcomes have never been this massive, threatening to erode the early and still weak blooms of ‘good’, ‘the promise of progress’, inherent in science and technology. (a study of, and hands on, of an ever larger grasp of reality). A science and technology currently heavily crippled by unacknowledged evidence of the missing third leg on the tripod upon which civilization rests – the spiritual, which is found within the far boundaries of a larger definition of energy, with its past due, missing, immeasurable applications – all necessary criteria for evolutionary progress.
The shadows referred to by Deepak Chopra’s ‘The Real Secret of Donald J. Trump’ (below), would completely dissolve and disappear in the flow and application of advancing energy systems in all phases of our lives.
But the shadows elimination likelihood remains extremely dim within a citizenry kept uninformed and dis-informed.
“………….…Their humanity and incredible stupidity are extant in this brilliant tapestry of human folly. What is so gripping is that we who view it are made to feel distinctly uncomfortable, because their shadows and myopia reflect our own. The shadows and myopia arrive as a projection of our political and corporate leaders. After watching this film we can no longer hide from these shadows. We are forcibly held to account. If we do not act now, this film then becomes our story………………”
Our addictive dependence to it (oil and generalized greed throughout the economic system) is what propelled the downward spiral of devastation. The addictive process was enabled because we allowed the environment to become an extension of human egocentric needs and values, an ego-sphere rather than an eco-sphere. In this ego-sphere we consumed mindlessly in the global economy without regard for ecosystem balance or concern about creating inequality, poverty and ecosystem imbalance. Planetary care is not on this agenda, as the film graphically shows. We see the old man in the High Arctic watching archival video footage, carefully preserved from 2008. His stark question to the viewer is: “Why didn’t we stop climate change in 2008 when there was a chance?”

There’s a powerful way to explain the rise of Donald Trump that most commentators have missed entirely or undervalued. The standard line describes Trump as a bizarre anomaly. Beginning as an improbable celebrity candidate, he has defied all the conventional rules of politics, which should have been fatal. Instead Trump has swept all before him on the Republican side. Possessing a “genius” for grabbing the limelight, he continues to dominate the scene in ways no previous politician ever has in modern times–so the conventional view goes.
But in reality Trump isn’t bizarre or anomalous. He stands for something universal, something right before our eyes. It’s an aspect of the human psyche that we feel embarrassed and ashamed of, which makes it our collective secret. Going back a century in the field of depth psychology, the secret side of human nature acquired a special name: the shadow.
The shadow compounds all the dark impulses–hatred, aggression, sadism, selfishness, jealousy, resentment, sexual transgression–that are hidden out of sight. The name originated with Carl Jung, but its basic origin came from Freud’s insight that our psyches are dualistic, sharply divided between the conscious and unconscious. The rise of civilization is a tribute to how well we obey our conscious mind and suppress our unconscious side. But what hides in the shadows will out………… more
